Glory to God

I’m beginning to wonder if we use this phrase as a cliche to often?  Don’t we seem to use it when were in times of trouble?  Times of need or perhaps interruptions from our comfort?  Do we use the phrase “To God be the Glory” as if we have some control over the situation and changing it to meet our special fixed formula or our thought on how we think God should act or turn the situation to be in our favor?

I’m not saying this is all circumstances, but it seems more often than not.  Its similar to reducing our worship time down to a specific hour or time during the week.

In fact I think these two go hand in hand.  Should not our attitudes to the God of the bible be one that is always seeking to glorify?  Always seeking to worship?  Always seeking to bring light to His name to those around us?

Were often trying to control our circumstances and weakness’s to fit in this excuse of a buzz phrase.  Christ should permeate through our life. We like talking about the ideals of what we would like to “achieve” and “do” for God’s glory.  We think this best fits into some sort of mold that we can shape our lives into.  Isn’t the sanctification process something that molds us.  We can’t setup our change through simple steps or formulas to best meet our needs.  God molds us, shapes and brings glory to himself through the supernatural process of changing our lives through brokenness, weakness, forgiveness, confession, love, patience, kindness, compassion, humility, sacrifice, GRACE.  This is the sanctification process.   Our life should be a reflection of God’s grace, through our works in faith of the one who has saved us.  Our sanctification process is not merely by works alone.

“To God be the Glory”….isn’t a circumstantial statement.  Its a way of life.  It’s what we do.  Its how we do it.  Not us…All God.

Hmm I don’t know that I really hear it that often. Maybe I will listen for it more and see how people use it. If I remember right there is a certain television evangelist that says it. Which is typically said after he has been shared something outstanding or almost as a filler word at times. And of course there is the hymn “To God be the Glory”

Ill have to listen for it and see.
