The Sacrament of Living

Last evening I finished up the book by A.W. Tozer entitled “The Pursuit of God”. All I can say is wow. This book is amazing. There are other quotes from this book I would like to share, as well as some thoughts. Maybe sometime soon. But the last chapter is called “The Sacrament of Living”. Basically its a call for christ-followers to stop considering only certain things “spiritual” and all other things “secular”. There is a common misconception of a sacred-secular philosophy. Tozer talks about this, and I agree with him. Why does labeling something “Christian” make it better than if it were not. I leave you with this quote, this was one I really had to chew on after reading it.
Let every man abide in the calling wherein he is called and his work will be as sacred as the work of the ministry. It is not what a man does that determines whether his work is sacred or secular, it is why he does it. The motive is everything. Let a man sanctify the Lord God in his heart and he can thereafter do no common act.

That quote from Tozer is so true. Good stuff. I shared something similar with the youth group last night God is not interested in what you are doing for Him he is interested in why are you doing it.
