Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I pray that your day be filled with joy and the knowing of God’s mercy and grace on your life. I hope that your time with family and friends are enjoyable and filled with happiness as you celebrate Christ’s birth.
While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.
And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
In the same region there were {some} shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.
And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
“This {will be} a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
*Something that I shared with my family tonight, and has really struck me this year is a christmas story we often don’t hear. Its the story that Jesus came in a time where a government leader, Caesar, was claiming that he was the Savior, that he was Lord, and bringer of peace. That his birthday was good news, and his empire was salvation. Jesus came, as a babe He came as Savior, Prince of Peace, Lord, and would eventually die on a cross to provide salvation to all those that believed in Him, recognized there sin and ask for forgiveness, and trust in Him. Much like this truth, over 2000 years ago…we are still faced with this question. Do we bow before the Caesars (ourselves, our made-up religions, our search for material gain, our family, our media and celebrities, etc.) of our time, or do we dare embrace the kingdom of Jesus? The Christmas story forces us to choose between these two kingdoms. What’s your choice?
