Thanks Giving Part 2

Today I want to write about my thankfulness for my family. I think in today’s culture and society there is a clear attack on what the family means and should be. Divorce, unfaithfulness, unhappiness, etc are plaguing our families. We’ve succumbed to the idea that if we don’t like whom we are living with, we ditch them and get a new person in our life. Vows made to each other and commitment seems the thing of the past. This is why I am thankful for my family. Though there have been some rough times and difficult times I am sure, as most families would admit. I am thankful for the commitment my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles (the majority of them) and siblings who not only stayed committed to this thing called family but also the Godly heritage that they have passed down from one generation to another.
I had an opportunity to be at a family reunion this past summer and it was such a blessing to hear of the testimony of my great grandparents. And then to hear of how God has worked in each of everyone’s lives and all those involved in some form of ministry and/or local church. I wish I remember the numbers but there is quite a number involved as pastors and/or missionaries. Not that I am making the role of a pastor or missionary above any other, but it just amazes me to see the call God has through the family branches stemming back to my great grandparents.
I am thankful for the encouragement my family has showed me specifically over these past few months with the new adjustment in life and the possibility of change, to turn over a new leaf and write a new chapter in my life. I am thankful for the family I have here who have encouraged me to take this step and I am thankful for the extended family I have who have opened there home, there lives and showed a desire to invest there valuable time into my life. I am not sure what the future holds, but I am expecting great things for God’s glory. It’s going to be a challenging process in trusting God and stepping out in faith. But I am thankful for the family that will be there on every step and every level.
I am thankful for the relationships I have with my sisters and there husbands and that thing’s aren’t the way they used to be..with them picking on me all the time and blaming me for everything and me getting in trouble for everything. LOL. Ok so I’m sure I didn’t help most situations but I think we’ve come along way. I’m thankful for my parents who have always provided for me and have encouraged me in a direction of life and to pursue my dreams and desires. I am thankful for the family and extended family who have spoken into my life and continue to do so. I thank you.
What do you have to be thankful for about your family?
